The curriculum includes coursework, where students work independently to produce articles on themes concerning Germany. Some of these themes include German customs, festivals, fashions and also topics such as environmental problems, women in society or unemployment.

Lessons are normally conducted in an informal manner, and discussions are strongly encouraged.

But all these efforts would remain pure theory if the students didn't achieve a realistic idiom and a concrete idea of what is meant, for example by the phrases "Deutsche Gemütlichkeit" or "Berliner Schnauze", or of what modern life is like in a medieval city like Tübingen. That is why the "Immersion Programme", a study-tour to Germany combined with a student exchange programme, is an integral part of the programme.
